THE OBJECTIVE

Having found themselves lost in the overwhelming world of protein powders and fitness supplements, our clients were bombarded with options, from expensive brands boasting premium benefits to budget-friendly options claiming the same protein content. Choosing a protein powder that seemed to offer good value, only to realize that it was an off-brand product with a protein concentration far below what was advertised. Research is key, especially when navigating through lesser-known brands.

Our mission was to create a streamlined process designed to assist users in finding the ideal supplement that perfectly aligns with their individual needs and potential cautions.

Personalized Wellness, Made Conversational

Navigating the world of supplements can feel overwhelming, especially when users aren’t sure where to start or what’s safe for them. We anchored the experience around an AI chatbot that feels warm, conversational, and deeply knowledgeable. Rather than dropping users into a static form, we let them talk to NutriBot naturally, asking questions like “Can I take Magnesium and Rhodiola together?” and receiving human-like, medically informed responses. The chatbot is empathetic, responsive, and always explains why a suggestion is made, building both trust and clarity.

Designing for Decision Confidence

Supplements are deeply personal. Users need to feel confident that recommendations are not only effective but safe and aligned with their sensitivities. NutriBot actively adapts based on user concerns. When a user mentions they’re sensitive to Ashwagandha, the AI offers an alternative (e.g., Rhodiola), with a rationale: “fewer reported sensitivities.” We visualized those changes using updated supplement cards that reflect the user's personal plan in real time, giving users a feeling of proactive care.

Streamlined Visual Language for a Complex Domain

The health and wellness category is saturated with apps that either over-simplify or overwhelm. We needed a design that felt clean, clinical, and intuitive. The UI uses generous white space, modern typography, and clean card components to communicate trust and calm. Microinteractions, like subtle voice animation during AI responses, bring personality without clutter. By pairing plain-language summaries with clean product cards, we allow users to browse recommendations and research updates with ease.

Many recommendation engines offer generic advice. Ours needed to be dynamic and evidence-based. The Research section uses dynamic content pulled from clinical studies, NIH-backed sources, and recent publications. Each update is framed with badges like “Research Update” or “New Supplement Suggestion,” making it easy for users to distinguish trusted content from exploratory advice. Tabs like Summary, Articles, and Notifications keep the flow clean while catering to different information-seeking behaviors.
